A Genuinely Independent Second Opinion
Telos and Athena set out to prove the same thesis from scratch, sharing no code. When two systems that derived their knowledge completely independently arrive at the same answer, that agreement is one of the strongest signals of correctness there is.
And when they disagree, the disagreement points straight at where a defect lives. Merging them would collapse two derivations into one and destroy the only thing neither can do alone — so the symbiosis is built as a bus between two self-sufficient organs, never a backdoor merge.

Measuring how well an answer covers the question and tracking how understanding progresses, with deep explainability.

Governed by Hard Rules
Independence is the whole point, so it's protected by non-negotiable constraints.
Each Stands Alone
Either system boots and answers fully with the other absent. Symbiosis is an optional, additive layer — never a dependency.
Server-Side Only
The exchange lives in the service layer and never touches Telos's engine or anything an offline edge device relies on.
Read-Only by Default
They trade answers and reports, not raw knowledge. Growing each other's brains is deferred until the basics prove out.
No Circular Corroboration
A fact one system learned from the other can never count as independent confirmation when it's sent back.

Athena scores how well each Telos answer covers the question and tracks that across sessions — the instrumentation Telos's answer layer is missing.
Both cross-verify
Each answers the same question independently and their structured claims are compared. Agreement lifts confidence; conflict localizes the defect.
