About Markdown

  1. Install

    Download DMD-win-x64.zip, unzip it, and run DMD-Setup.exe. The zip also contains INSTALL.txt.

  2. Open a folder

    Add a folder. The tree watches disk: files you add in Explorer show up. Double-click a file to open it. Right-click for Duplicate, Rename, Delete, Copy Folder Path, or Open Folder.

  3. New file

    Ctrl+N or New asks for a file name and folder and writes the file immediately. There is no untitled buffer.

  4. Edit

    The formatted view is editable. The bar has bold, underline, strikethrough, italic, a Format menu (paragraph, headings, quote, code), a List menu, and Insert (table, math, mermaid). Markdown is what gets stored. Middle-click a tab to close it.

  5. Save and update

    Ctrl+S saves. If another program writes the file and you have no unsaved edits, the tab reloads. The update icon next to the theme toggle turns green when a newer Windows build is known. Click it to install; it asks first, then saves, updates, and restarts.

  6. Sign in

    Sign in with DAISI when you want account features. Local files still open without it.
